I was nominated by my blogging friends Darlene Foster and Carol Taylor and to post one favourite travel picture a day for ten days without explanation, then to nominate someone else to participate. That’s 10 days, 10 travel pictures, and 10 nominations. It doesn´t have to be 10 consecutive days. Thanks, Carol and Darlene!
My post yesterday featured the beach at Richards Bay, a city in Kwa-Zulu Natal. It is situated on a 30 square kilometre lagoon of the Mhlatuze River, with the result that it has one of South Africa’s largest harbours. Richards Bay also has the deepest natural harbour on the African continent.
The port of Richards Bay is protected by rubble mound breakwaters, which are covered with dolos. These are the concrete structures you can see in yesterday’s pictures. If you missed this post, you can see the pictures here: https://robbiesinspiration.wordpress.com/2021/01/15/travel-challenge-day-1/
Here is today’s picture, also featuring a South African site:
Today I’m nominating Kamal for this challenge. Kamal has a lovely blog, Boundless Blessings, where she shares her own poetry and beautiful messages of wisdom.
If I nominate you and you don’t have time or the enthusiasm to participate, please don’t worry. I don’t mind at all if you pass on the nomination.
Thank you so much for your valuable feedback and for nominating me, Robbie. Will definitely do my best. Thanks once again.😊😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️

I love that setting sun photo. The animal shots are excellent, too. The hippos must be taking a siesta?

Hi Liz, yes indeed, hippos seem to sleep a great deal.

Good choices, Robbie. When I saw hippos in Kenya, I only saw their backs and ears under water. 🙂
Best wishes, Pete.

Hi Pete, I have been fortunate enough to visit St Luccia in South Africa which is a hippo sanctuary. I saw lots and lots of hippos there, romping in the delta. It was great.

Hi Jacqui, I was particularly fortunate to get the picture of the white rhino, they are quite rare.

I just read something from WWF saying there are none left in the wild anymore–only 3 in captivity. You are blessed to have that magnificent creature, enjoying life in his natural home.

I could tell it was a Natal beach by the sand, but not which one. I’ve only seen white rhino once so I know you are lucky to have seen them.

We were very lucky on this trip, Tandy. I enjoyed Richards Bay very much but we haven’t been there for a while now.

The sun is shining but it’s relatively cold at about 46f. At least it’s stopped raining!

I’m glad to hear that, Danny. How’s your writing going? I’ve got The Story that had no Beginning coming up next on my audible library.

I hope you enjoy it. That one was a bit different for me. The one I’m supposed to be writing now is taking forever. It’s partially due to my hospital visits also having to do other things whilst in lockdown. I’ve changed parts of it so many times that I’m seriously thinking about scrubbing it and starting again—not good.

S.Africa has so much of natural beauty. Your pictures are so tempting Robbie. Makes me want to pack my bags. Its amazing seeing the giraffe and rhino in its natural setting. They all look so happy.

Animals are happy in their natural setting, as are people. When we were away in rural Kwa-Zulu Natal recently, I thought how happy most of the people looked. It’s a pity the young have to leave to work in the cities.

It’s true. I felt the same when I went to Kodai this year and Sikkim the last year. People living on the hills looked content.
Also Animal Planet never fails to amaze me. So I can only imagine how this must feel. Thank you for sharing these pictures.
