Don’t do it
Do you believe in
conspiracy theories?
Don’t exhaust your mind
seeking out hidden agendas
and proving the negatives

A gift
When given a gift
don’t diminish its value
by looking for more
than the giver intended
ignoring its true meaning

I especially appreciated the caution on conspiracy theories. Sadly the internet allows all sorts of horrid ideas to spread.

Thank you, Elizabeth. It also allows like minded people to enclose themselves in a narrow minded world, revealing in their same beliefs which is frightening.

I am amazed at some things people believe. There is a whole theory that the first graders murdered here weren’t really murdered. Sick.

The second poem is so accurate to real life.

Thank you, Tandy. I always enjoy the comments when I write two poems with different focuses. Everyone is so different it is lovely.

I like these, Robbie. I’ve never enjoyed entertaining conspiracy theories – I much prefer to take things at face value. And that includes receiving simple gifts and gestures.

Excellent take on human nature, Robbie. I ponder on the kind of people who believe in all the conspiracy theories. At some point, we are forced to trust our elected officials, whether we want to or not. Your second Tanka is spot on and what I like to call a poetic truth. ❤

Thank you, Colleen. I hear what you say about elected officials and, hopefully sometimes they deliver what they promise.

These are wonderful Robbie…sometimes there’s no between the lines, and we need to learn to see that. And congrats on being the featured poet! (K)

Short and sweet! Not that I believe in them, but conspiracy theories have always fascinated me, mostly in the way people make connections from point A to B and their reasoning behind it.

I do enjoy them, Teri, but one has to approach them with a circumspect attitude.
