Open a new door, a collection of poems

Open a new door is available for Amazon US

Open a New Door is a poetic peep into the lives of the poets, Kim Blades and Robbie Cheadle, both of whom live in South Africa.

The book is divided into four categories: God bless Africa, God bless my family and friends, God bless me and God bless corporates and work. Each part is sub-divided into the good, the bad and the ugly of the two poets’ experiences, presented in rhyming verse, free-style, haiku and tanka, in each of these categories and include colourful depictions of their thoughts and emotions.

The purpose of this book of poetry is encapsulated in the following tanka and haiku poems:
What drives me to write?
To share my innermost thoughts
The answer is clear
It’s my personal attempt
To make some sense of this world.

Inspiration blossoms
Like the unfurling petals
Of the Desert Rose

5 star Goodreads review

This is a beautiful collection of poems. The glimpse of South Africa we get in the poetry from that section is fascinating to someone like me who has never been there, and is unlikely ever to do so. Then there are the poems in the sections about family, work, and other personal experiences of the two poets, which will touch your heart, even if you can’t relate to the exact same experience. In short, this is a wonderfully written collection of poetry, which I highly recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Open a New Door’. South Africa is a country of interest to me (an Australian), as it is in a sense a sister country to my own.

The exposure to life as it is lived in a place that seems both familiar and strange is a wonderful journey. Places and people. Locations and work. Heartbreaks and delights.

The love of country shines through and elevates reading to a higher plane.

I received my copy of this collection directly from one of the authors, and I rate it: Highly Recommended.
