Robbie’s Inspiration – Thursday Doors, where are we going in Tokyo today? #Tokyo #photography

Today, I am continuing with my tour of Tokyo, Japan for Dan’s Thursday Doors. You can join in here: https://nofacilities.com/2025/03/20/a-few-leftovers/

So where am I today?

Picture caption: A multistory building with a giant fish painted on it. Several trucks are parked in front – they have doors.

John Rieber will know. If you don’t know yet, enjoy the doors on the trucks.

Picture caption: kelp for sale. There is a door into the shop in the back on the picture.
Picture caption: A pie cabinet – nope! It a cabinet with doors displaying cooked fish.

Have you worked out where I am yet?

Picture caption: lots of huge and scary looking crab legs.

This video shows a man cooking crab legs with a blow torch. And now you know where I am.

Picture caption: I took this picture of the power lines because I thought it was amazing. It looked quite unsafe too.
Picture caption: soup at the fish market. The cabinets behind have doors.
Picture caption: lots and lots of fish for sale. The man doesn’t look very happy.
Picture caption: you can also buy your crabs live. The tank has doors – haha!

Lots of hustle and bustle at the Tokyo fish market:

Next week there is no Thursday Doors. I am planning to share a little surprise our guide showed us in this market. I will be going into hospital on Friday, 4 April for a sinus operation. Wish me well – I am terrified.

  1. Delightful post, Robbie. The photos are great, doors or not I liked them.

There is Thursday Doors next week, but not the week after. I try to give some advance notice, but it always confuses people. Someday, I’ll learn.

  2. I guessed the Fish Market from the huge fish in the first photo. I always think it is sad to see live fish/crabs for sale, but it must have been an experience to see the market. Good luck with the sinus surgery.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  3. This reminds me of Seattle only much more crowded! I’ve never seen so many packages of kelp. I’ve never bought any either! The mishmash of wires was an interesting shot you don’t see everywhere!

I’ll be thinking and praying about your operation. After it’s over, you will be glad. It’s nice to be able to breathe. xxxx

      1. You would love Seattle. If you ever get there, I’ll fly up and join you. My first husband was from there. I haven’t been for about 15 years or so for a National Conference held there.

    1. Thank you, Diana. Human Resources says I may not work for the full seven days I’m booked off. I’m quite looking forward to that part 🤗. I am not mad about shellfish like mussels and oysters. I did enjoy this vibrant market.

    1. Thank you, Tandy. I thought the cables looked like our illegal connections so I was surprised. Japan is so orderly and these were not in keeping with the general neatness. The crabs were amazing. Fish was so cheap there, even lobster.

  5. That’s a lot of doors and busy, Robbie.. I’m not sure about all of those smells..they should have opened up your sinus cavities for sure. Oh my.. good luck and you’ve tried all of the sinus release etc, I’m certain. Sending fast healing! ❤️‍🩹

    1. I have a deviated septum and it’s resulted in very little drainage on the right. I keep getting sinus and ear infections so I have no choice about this operation really. It’s getting worse. It will be fine – I’m just a baby.

      1. It sounds a little like here Robbie,,, where I live most of the cables are underground they are slowly as a country aiming to tidy up the cables but like you in some places they are a maze and definitely not safe plus a fire hazard..x

  7. I’m so sorry to hear of your upcoming surgery, Robbie! I don’t blame you for being terrified; surgery is a tough thing to endure. I definitely will be hoping for an easy time of it for you. As for all the fish, I can’t even imagine such a market! I’m a big fan of fish, though, and now I’m hungry!
