The holiday is over

My Christmas break is over and tomorrow I am back in the rat race. It has been a very quite few weeks with little in the way of emails coming through on the work front after 20 December. The blogosphere has also been quiet with a lot of people on blogging breaks to enjoy the Christmas and New Year festivities with family and friends.

As we had a whirlwind holiday in Scotland in August 2019 and then a short break in Budapest in September, I told my husband I didn’t want to go away over this Christmas break, preferring to relax prepare for 2020 work myself to death in my usual OCD way and try to break the back of my re-write and embellishment of my new paranormal historical novel, A Ghost and His Gold. Over the past two half weeks of my holiday, I have added 30 000 words to my WIP. I am pleased with this progress as this book includes a lot of history about the Second South African War (Anglo Boer War) and as I am writing from both the British and the Boer perspective, it involves masses of research. There is also the modern element which involves the three ghosts and pulls the story together and that also takes time and effort and some research.

Reading

I have also done a fair amount of reading and have quite a few lovely reviews to share with you over the next few weeks. The books I have read include poetry, supernatural fantasy, a memoir, a romance, a book about child trafficking and a host of children’s books.

Have a wonderful new week everyone.

  1. You have made great use of your time, as I knew you would. Today was the Three Kings Parade and tomorrow is Three Kings Day when the kids in Spain get their gifts. I am planning a pancake Three Kings breakfast for two young girls in my life. Then Christmas is over and I will get back to writing as well.

  2. You’ve been busy, for sure, Robbie! Good luck with the blog tour and with the writing (and with going back to work, of course) and happy 2020! I look forward to the reviews as well!

  3. I have thoroughly enjoyed your posts and the reviews of course. I hope the corporate world is as interesting but somehow I doubt it. Have a peaceful return to work, Robbie.

    1. Hi Danny, I like parts of my job which are interesting and stimulating. I do deal structuring and put together the financial effects of merger and acquisition transactions. That is the nice party. The admin of a corporate drive me up the wall though. I am very bad with admin.

      1. I hate paperwork! I try to touch paper once–check it, sign it, or throw it away. But life doesn’t work like that and that’s where it gets too complicated for me.

  4. Well reading this Robbie it looks like you have been far from relaxing in your holiday break.. And no doubt as you get back into your daily work routine you will be busier still…
Ask a busy person to carry out a task and it usually gets done.. lol… ( as I remember back to my own working days )
I am so pleased to say I take life at a little slower pace these days and I have really enjoyed the blog breaks I take…
But it’s always wonderful to catch up again with my blogging friends and exchange out thoughts..

May 2020 be as wonderful as 2019 Robbie, I hope you get to see lots of new wonderful places.. As I send you and your family my best wishes for a Happy Healthy and Prosperous Year ahead..

Much love and Blessings your way… And may I take a leaf out of your book to be more organised this year lol..

      2. Germany is lovely, my sister-in-law went on holiday there to visit all the Christmas markets and she had a great time. It was recent, in December 2019. Lots to look forward too.

    1. Hi Jacqui, I suppose I could create my own, but I don’t like asking people to host me. I am shy like that. I also thought I might meet some new bloggers and readers this way and that is always fun.

      1. Robbie, for most people it isn’t a problem, but I have a sight problem, but not with Kindle and I am reading your book now. It will take me a month to read it and then I will do a review here and everywhere. Thank you for getting two of my books. Next time, please tell me and I will just gift a book to you. I am now working on my first non-fiction and another book from my Delphi Altair series, book 2. I won’t see the light of day of months, but I am going to try and do a post once or twice a week here and do one Sue Vincent photo thing per week. Karen 🙂

      2. Hi Karen, I am very happy to purchase your books so don’t worry about that at all. I have one coming up soon on my kindle. I try to read in order of purchase otherwise the older books never see the light of day. I hope you enjoy Through the Nethergate. I appreciate your support.
