#Flashfiction – Chisel

Charli Mills’ flash fiction prompt for this week is as follows: March 14, 2019, prompt: In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story that includes a chisel. Use chisel as a noun or a verb. Think about what might be chiseled, who is chiseling. Be the chisel. Go where the prompt leads!

Toys for boys

Dan slammed his toolbox down on the table. “My new paint scrapper is missing. I haven’t even used it yet.”

“Are you sure it’s gone?”

“Yes,” he opened the box. “See, it’s gone. You haven’t seen it anywhere, have you?”

“No,” said Julie, thinking of the little fondant man who was reposing on the paint scrapper in her art cupboard. It was a great tool for moving her artworks with and she planned to keep it.

She smiled at him. “Why don’t you leave your toolbox in the kitchen until you find it?” His chisel had caught her eye.

      1. I think I kind of know what they’re looking for in the reviews. A couple people wrote reviews of my book and got rejected because of too much personal feelings.
I rewrote yours and Colleen’s, got posted right away.

  1. Haha.. Love this little story, and many a tool from the tool box comes in handy.. Just as how some of my sewing scissors find their way into the green house! 🙂

  2. Robbie, this is very well-written with so much in just the 99 words. I like Julie’s creative thinking and how you draw on your own passion for baking. Great comments as well which is just what you want with a story!😀

Wishing you a lovely weekend, Robbie – will it be as busy as usual? xx

    1. I am glad you enjoyed this, Annika. I am very good at making do with household items when I create. This weekend has been a long one as yesterday (Thursday) was a public holiday and today I only worked the morning. I am trying to finish editing my new book by the end of this weekend – 30 pages to go. I am taking my boys and a friend and my nephews ice skating tomorrow and having family for tea on Sunday, so yes, a bit busy.
