#Blue Sky Tag – Time for a little fun and distraction…

Sally Cronin from Smorgasbord blog tagged me to join in with this little bit of blogging fun. You can read Sally’s post here: https://smorgasbordinvitation.wordpress.com/2018/08/03/blue-sky-tag-time-for-a-little-fun-and-distraction-tgif/

It is sort of polite to mention the person who tagged you

You need to answer the 11 questions set by your tagger

You will need to make up 11 original and interesting or funny questions for those you tag.

Here are Sally’s 11 questions:

What was the name of your first pet and what did you love most about them? (if you have not had a pet, substitute, boyfriend, girlfriend, or film star!)

My favourite film star when I was a girl was Brooke Shields. I watched her in the Blue Lagoon and I thought she was the most beautiful girl to ever walk the earth. I watched that movie many times and was completely taken with the entire [ridiculous] story. I even wrote a letter to her when I was 9 years old requesting a signed photograph. I did receive one which made me very happy. Unfortunately, it disappeared in a box of my stuff during one of our many house moves.

If you could meet anyone from history, who would you meet and why?

If I could meet anyone from history it would be Enid Blyton. I grew up on her stories and I loved them all. I particularly liked the Faraway Tree stories and the Wishing Chair. She was such a prolific writer, I would love to chat to her about her writing process.

What are the most common misconception people have about you?

Hmmmm! That is tough. I think most people know that I am an obsessive workaholic who adores her kids. Most people who know me are aware that I love reading, writing, poetry, fondant art and baking. They also know I am an introvert who has a limited tolerance for social events. I can’t think of anything else that anyone would want to know about me [smile].

If you could buy any car in the world what would it be and why?

I really don’t know. I have no interest in cars whatsoever and can really recognise a specific type of car. My husband bought me my Audi because he believes Audi’s are very safe cars and he wanted his family to travel in a car with good safety features. I am more interested in my three GPS as I have absolutely no sense of direction at all and could get lost driving home from work if the I was in the wrong frame of mind.

Do you have a hobby your friends don’t know about?

I am a social media lunatic. I don’t think there is anything that I do that my friends and family don’t know about.

Describe your perfect day?

My perfect day is visiting some or other historical site of interest in England with Terence and my boys. We all enjoy history and exploring interesting sites, particularly ones with a military background. Enjoying a delicious English tea with fruit scones, jam and cream is just the proverbial cherry on the top.

What was the last movie you saw at the cinema?

The most recent movie I have seen was The Peter Rabbit Story. I wanted to spend some time with the boys doing something fun and we all really enjoyed this movie. I am sure Beatrix Potter would turn in her grave if she saw this film but we had a good time identifying all the characters from the other books and I liked this new take on one of my favourite childhood stories.

Summer or winter?

In South Africa, definitely summer as the houses are not built for cold weather so we all freeze to death during cold patches. Our winters are also very dry which makes sinus and hay fever very common here as well as dry, itchy eyes.

Looks or Personality?

Seeing as Mr Fox is totally gorgeous, it must be looks. I was just lucky that he is also the world’s nicest person.

City or countryside?

Definitely the city. I am not much of an outdoors person and I am also not a fan of animals close to me. I like museums, libraries, historical places of interest and theaters and you find these brilliant places in the cities.

Action or comedy?

I like books about people and their loves and lives. I suppose that means that I like dramas. If I have to chose between action and comedy, it would be comedy but not slapstick comedy.

I am going to be horribly lazy and not make up new questions or nominate other bloggers for this tag.

If you want to join in, I would love to read your posts and I don’t think I can improve on Sally’s super questions.

Michael and I spend the day making scones for international scone week and we watched Smurfs 2 together this afternoon. I sort of watched it as I was creating a new blog in between. I am taking the advice of my author friends and setting up a separate profile for my YA supernatural and horror book which I hope will be the first in a series. This genre doesn’t mix well with my Sir Chocolate books series, Silly Willy and While the Bombs Fell so I am profiling it under my maiden name, Roberta Eaton.

I attended a book fair on Saturday. Here is a picture of a few of us having fun in the sun:

Have a lovely week.

  1. Great idea! Do keep us informed on your new books. I find it difficult to keep up the one profile and I write in different genres. I know there are people who use several alises or a couple to publish in different genres, but I don’t think I’m organised enough. Good luck!

      1. I agree. When I came to Canada I could find none of her stories in the bookstores or library. I am guessing it is because she is a British writer and not an American one.

  2. Excellent answers, Robbie. I watched Brook Shield a lot also and watched the one with Leonardo DiCaprio when she was 14 years old. She was very pretty and looked mature at a young age.
I have no sense of direction when it comes to driving. When I got lost once, I stopped the car and called my husband for direction. 🙂 I love Peter Rabbit stories, read to my students and my daughter. I also had collectible dishes withPeter Rabbit pictures and quotes on them. They are lovely characters.
You surely had fun for the Saturday book fair. Have a wonderful week.

  3. I enjoyed this post and all your answers, Robbie. I am an introvert when it comes to parties and get togethers also. Sigh! It’s fun learning more about each other. Good luck with your new projects. It is a good idea to separate your adult books from your chilren’s fare. I do. They don’t mix, that’s true. Hugs
