Each and every day,
You hear of pain;
It’s a part of life,
Like sun and rain.
A young father shot,
A life suddenly ends;
Wife and children left,
For themselves to fend.
A drug addicts child,
Always left alone;
Of starvation dies,
He’s skin and bone.
An aircraft crash,
Kills all on board;
Each link with life,
A severed cord.
At first a death,
Is so surreal;
It’s permanency,
Is so unreal.
The first few days,
They go so fast;
The funeral,
In a flash it’s past.
Harsh reality,
When people leave;
And left alone,
Your loss you grieve.
Life is fragile,
Not guaranteed;
Make sure each day,
Is gladly received.

One must endeavor to seize the day, make each day an adventure, turning pain into transcendence.

That is a great way of interpreting the message in this poem. I try to always make time for our family, especially the older members, as one doesn’t want to have regrets later in life.

Thank you, Sue. I wrote that poem after a very good friend of ours was killed while trying to help his niece in a domestic violence case. I always try to make the most of today as one never knows what tomorrow holds. Have a lovely weekend and I hope you are feeling much better now.

Think this is the sad part of life. Many of us don’t want to think of this with respect to our loved ones but you have penned it so good. Everyday when we get up thank god for being alive is the gratefulness we can show.

Life is a fragile thing indeed. We never know for sure how long we’ll be here, so we must try to see each day as a gift and try to make the most of it.
