I just happened to write these two poems today. They popped into my head, one after the other, this morning. Luckily for me it is poet’s choice this week so I can use these for Colleen’s challenge.
The cause
Slapping a plaster
over a wound spurting blood
will do little good
identifying the cause
may help to staunch the bleeding
Does it?
Can you see the light
At the end of the tunnel?
Does it shine brightly?
Does it beckon you strongly?
Or does it weakly waver?
You can join in the challenge here: https://colleenchesebro.com/2019/02/05/colleens-2019-weekly-tanka-tuesday-poetry-challenge-no-122/
Very good Robbie…,💜

I must stop writing poems at work, Ritu [grin]. They are always deep and disturbing.

Both poems are good, Robbie. The 2nd one is very deep, I think. 😀 xo

Thank you, Vashti. I think I am reflecting on life to much lately.

That’s okay. Sometimes things happen that make us question and think things through. 🙂

That’s great when words just come together like this. PS I’m sure you meant shine in the second poem.

Thanks, Tandy. I did mean shine and I have corrected it.

Don’t stop, Robbie, even when you’re at work. Those creative moments bring out the best and deep thoughts like these ones. I can relate to the second one!

Thank you, Miriam. I seem to write a lot of my haiku and tanka poetry at work or in the car.

I know what you mean. Sometime the poetry came when I was driving and I had to find a place to park the car to write it before I forget, even though I could record it on the phone but just play safe to stop the car.

Yes, I also pull over sometimes, Miriam. I can’t do to things at once.

Two great and inspired poems, Robbie!! 😀 That light at the end of the tunnel does seem to waver … and it’s always best to get to the heart of any problem!

Thank you, Annika. I like tanka’s as they are short and tight and you can get to the heart of a matter but they allow a bit more expansion than a haiku.

These are delightful. I must say, I’ve never had a nice little poem pop into my head, fully formed. Kudos!

I must admit, Jacqui, that most of my poems pop into my head like that and it just requires a bit of tweaking to get the syllable count correct.

Like Jacqui, I’ve never had poems pop into my head either. Think my brain is deficient in that area, lol. These are wonderful.

My poetry is usually quick to formulate, even the longer Sir Choc stories. Poetry is a bit like that I think as it has a rhyme and rhythm to it.

I love it when poems just pop into my head. 🙂 Well done, Robbie.

I am so glad to hear your poetry also comes to you like this. I don’t usually have to strain over poetry.

Well done, Robbie! Hope i understood right, because i see some motivation in all two poems. Perhaps a remembrance to Ritu’s knife challenge a few days before. 😉 #bloodysister

Wise words to the first poem Robbie And to the second.. it beckons, because I believe there is always light at the end of any tunnel if we look for it..

Thank you, Sue. I told my mom this week that Roald Dahl described the big friendly giant as a “strange and moody creature”. I think these words were written for me.

Wise advise, Robbie, and I loved your Tankas. Keep your eyes open and look toward the light and it will wrap you in a golden glow… ❤

Thank you, Colleen. I hope so. We have elections coming up in April. I hope there won’t be a lot of bad stuff that happens here.
